Riello UPS is delighted to extend our partnership with GreenTheUK, a nationwide wildlife conservation scheme that helps businesses get involved with projects that increase biodiversity, protect species, and enhance local communities.
In the first 12 months of our collaboration, we contributed towards the planting of 2,000 climate resilient trees, as well as a further 300 trees at local schools and community groups.
Now for the 2024-25 period, we have committed to planting another 4,000 trees across the country. Such planting is greatly needed as the UK only has a 13% tree coverage compared to the European average of 38%.
The coming year will also see our partnership continue to provide opportunities for our team to get involved in various local conservation projects, like the one we enjoyed at the Leighton Redwoods forest in Powys back in June.
These volunteering events are likely to include similar woodland management initiatives, while we could potentially also get involved in projects to restore native oysters in the Solent, a straight of the English Channel between the coast of Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.
Native oysters are classified as a priority species in the UK government’s Biodiversity Action Plan, and a healthy, self-sustaining oyster population has a positive impact on our ecosystem.
